New York’s “Most Prolific” Street Racer Finally Taken into Custody

StreetRacing

Although average motorists face many threats when driving in New York City, street racers pose a special kind of danger. These reckless individuals have no problem breaking the speed limit, weaving through traffic, “drifting” around corners, and carrying out all kinds of other dangerous stunts. Inevitably, this leads to numerous injuries each year. Recently, the New York Police Department successfully captured one of the city’s most infamous and elusive street racers. But will this be enough to stop street racing injuries in Manhattan?

Captured Street Racer “Taunted Officers for Months”

In May of 2024, the New York Police Department announced that they had finally captured a “prolific” street racer and social media influencer. The 19-year-old had been taunting the authorities for months while posting videos of his insane stunts online. In some of these videos, he “performed donuts” around police vehicles before speeding away. The teen favored expensive luxury cars, including BMWs and Lamborghinis.

Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry stated: “One of the most prolific street racers in NYC can no longer treat the Big Apple like the Indy 500. To anyone thinking about putting themselves and others in danger, recklessly zooming through the streets of NYC, think again! You will be arrested and your car will be seized. You will face justice.”

Although this individual had previously been arrested after punching another person, authorities had no idea that he was also a street racer at that time. It was only after an ill-fated collaboration with another streamer that police finally connected the dots.

According to The Sun, the street racer took the streamer out for a ride in his Lamborghini but was rear-ended by another vehicle while weaving through traffic. The authorities are treating this like a hit-and-run, but the street racer insists that he personally knows the person who struck him. However, all drivers are legally required to stop after any collision – so this is not a valid excuse.

It’s not clear how the police managed to track down the racer, but it seems as though this collision may have had something to do with it. Conflicting reports state that the street racer rear-ended a yellow taxi cab before fleeing. Detectives have apparently been analyzing the streamer’s videos for any potential clues. Something about the most recent videos clearly provided them with a lead, and the street racer was apprehended. Unfortunately, there are many other dangerous street racers ready to take this individual’s place.
