 Days later in early March, a woman was struck and killed by a passing vehicle after exiting a taxi in the neighborhood of Boerum Hill. It is not clear who was at fault, although both the taxi driver and the other driver remained at the scene after the collision. First responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but she did not survive her injuries.

No arrests have been made, but either driver may have contributed to the crash in various ways. The taxi driver may have dropped their passenger in an unsafe location, for example. Alternatively, the driver who struck the woman may have been breaking the speed limit or texting. An investigation is now underway.

Pedestrian Killed by Dump Truck in Williamsburg 

A few days later, a dump truck struck and killed a pedestrian in the Williamsburg neighborhood. Police say the man was bending over to pick something up off the street when he was hit by the approaching truck. The accident reportedly occurred at 4 AM, and the dump truck driver was making a right-hand turn at the time. After the crash, the driver of the dump truck reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police have not yet found this individual.
