Parents Sue After Fatal New York Bus Accident

SchoolBusHighway

In an inevitable development, at least one set of parents has decided to sue after the bus crash that recently made headlines. The crash, which occurred on a New York highway, claimed the lives of two adults and injured numerous students. This might be the beginning of a much larger lawsuit, as other parents may also feel encouraged to pursue damages against various negligent entities that contributed to the crash. Many of the students are still receiving medical treatment for serious injuries.

Parents Sue Bus Company and Bus Driver

At least one parent has decided to sue the bus company and the bus driver involved with the recent crash in Upstate New York. On September 29th of 2023, it was reported that this was the father of a 14-year-old high school student who was inside the bus when it veered off the road before rolling down an embankment. The crash not only injured several students on their way to band camp, but it also claimed the lives of two adults chaperoning the children.

The lawsuit claims that the bus had reached an excessive speed before it crashed. The plaintiff also argues that the driver failed to control the bus and was responsible for the crash. In addition, the parent points the finger at the bus company itself – accusing it of failing to properly maintain the vehicle. It has been reported that a tire blowout led to the crash, and the assumption here is that the tire condition should have been checked prior to the journey.

The plaintiff’s child is alleged to have suffered a range of both psychological and physical injuries. These include numerous broken bones, facial scarring, and psychological issues. As a result, her father claims that she has become permanently disabled and disfigured. The main goal seems to be compensation for all of the girl’s medical expenses.

Another School Bus Crashes in New York

Meanwhile, another school bus carrying children has crashed in New York. On September 28th of 2023, it was reported that a school bus had been struck by a vehicle in Upstate New York – causing not only a crash but also a fiery blaze. The crash claimed the life of the school bus driver and his dog. A student and staffer were also allegedly injured. The vehicle seems to have been caused by a car that ran a stop sign. Clearly, school buses are proving to be very dangerous for children and adults in the State of New York.
